Wider Horizons Events and Information

1.       Our Men’s Coffee Group meets this Tuesday, November 21, 10 am, in the community room at Victrola, 411 15th Ave E. All are welcome. Currently, the group is meeting on the first Wednesday and the third Tuesday of each month. My parking tip is to park on 15th Ave E, several blocks north of Victrola and walk.

2.       Thursday morning’s all-member and friends Zoom is this Thursday, November 23, at 9:30 am. The link and small group questions will be sent out on Wednesday.

3.   Please welcome our newest member Carla McLean, left. Carla lives in Columbia City. She is a retired librarian and you can read more about her in the attached bio, which also has a better version of the great photo she shared. 4.  Sue Lerner announces the rescheduled presentation about YouthCare will be this Sunday, November 26 at 4 pmLearn about the successes of formerly homeless youth with support from YouthCare. 5.  We have a very promising new tech volunteer, Grant Parton. You can contact him directly at granteparton@gmail.com. He lives in the Madison Valley, but is willing to come to you. Grant previously volunteered for a San Francisco elder village, so he knows the score!

8.  The first meeting of our members touched by adoption happened the afternoon of November 19th. It was a great success, and we are eager to meet again on January 28th from 1 PM – 3:30 PM at the home of Patti Gorman, 1824 E. McGraw, Seattle. The gathering is open to any people in Wider Horizons who have been touched by adoption. Let Ann Lawrence know if you are interested: all4us2@earthlink.net.

  1. From Debbie Ward: The National Hearing Aid Project accepts all hearing aids regardless of age and condition. They refurbish the hearing aids and distribute them to low-income individuals on a national scale. They also take batteries that are not expired. The process is easy:
