Monday Morning Memo - 10.21.2024

Wider Horizons Events and Information

  1. Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening, per usual, this Thursday, October 24, at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.

  2. Reminder about our exciting Members’ Art Show and Sale, this Thursday, October 24, 1-5 pm at the Russian Community Center, 19th Ave E and E Roy. Artists selling their work will accept cash, checks, or, in some cases, Venmo or a credit card. Attached is a sample of one of the artist’s works…beautiful autumn leaves notecards that will be raffled! There is still time to volunteer to help and to invite your friends and family to join you.

  3. Charles Heaney looks forward to seeing you at the Men’s Coffee this Friday, October 25 at Victrola, at 10:30 am. Let Michael Kischner know if you need a ride.

  4. Sunday Arboretum Walk, October 27, led by Dick Zerbe. Meet at 9 am at the Graham Visitors Center.

  5. Email Debbie Ward debbieward222@gmail.com if you’d like to share your “doing good” story at the November Storytelling hour, November 21 at 4 pm. The Zoom link will go out several times…but closer to the event.

  1. Here is a link to an excellent piece on solo aging (I’ve “unlocked” it in case you don’t have a NY Times subscription): https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/21/business/retirement-single-alone-plan.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Sk4.006n.-fxkljOdMKsA&smid=url-share

  2. One of the best geriatric social workers in the biz, Carin Mack, retired and is busy doing great things on Mercer Island, including a support group for partners of people with dementia. See the attachment for details.
