Wider Horizons Events and Information

Nancy Hooyman, our esteemed and multi-faceted President, will present a Forum on Care Justice for Family Caregivers and Home Care Workers. It is on Sunday, March 24, 3 pm, at the lovely home of Vicky Downs (Capitol Hill). First 20 people to sign up can come. Flyer with more details will follow.

    1. Postcard with us at 10:30 Tuesday, March 5, at Oxbow Bakery, 2307 24th Ave E. Research says postcarding affects 1.4% of an election’s outcome (not bad when applied to a large number of voters). We’re writing to PA, the swing state with the most electoral votes. (No fragrance please.)
    2. Fiber Art Aficionados: Tuesday, March 5, 10:30-noon in-person at Fred Lind Manor/Capitol Hill. We keep insecurely housed little ones “Warm For Winter” with handmade hats and blankets and/or work on personal projects. All levels welcome. Yarn available for charity projects. For information: Joan Bergman jmbergman43@comcast.net
    3. Men’s Coffee: Our venue for this coming Wednesday, March 6, at 10 am is Fuel at 2300 24th Ave E Seattle, WA 9811, across the street from Oxbow Cafe. Victrola is doing some remodeling and is using its community room for storage. If you live on Capitol Hill and want a ride down to Fuel, let Michael know. Parking is so-so in the neighborhood. Michael Kischner, 206 696 4090. (Michael says he is “committed to democracy,” so if you like Fuel better than Victrola….)
    4. Women’s Coffee at the Oxbow Café on Wednesday, March 6that 10:30…coffee, treats, and conversation!
    5. Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening, per usual, this Thursday, March 7, at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.
    6. Back by popular demand: On Thursday, March 7th, a walk with Ann Lawrence and Eleanor Dills to admire and gaze at the hillside of daffodils in Volunteer Park. Meet at 2 PM in front of the doughnut statue in Volunteer Park. We will wander through the park together, and even stop by the Conservatory if anyone is interested. See a beautiful photo (attached).
    7. Micki Lippe is having a trunk show of her new art (scarves) at Fury Consignment on Madison on Saturday, March 9, 10 am – 5:30 pm (see attachment).
