Wider Horizons Events and Information

1.     Men’s Coffee will meet this week on Tuesday, December 19, at Victrola — 411 15th Ave East at 10:00 am. All are welcome. Charles Heaney will be coordinating. Note that much of the parking in the area has switched to paid parking most easily done on Pay by Phone. From Denise Klein: I’m guessing that north of Mercer, there is some available free parking for those willing and able to walk a few blocks.

2.     Women Coffee drinkers will gather on Wednesday, December 20, at Eleanor and Scott Dills home, 919 21st Ave E. You’ll be able to find parking on the street within a block or two.

3.     Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening, as per usual, this Thursday, December 21, at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.

4.     Storytelling is this Thursday, December 21, at 4 pm. Here is the link: https://tinyurl.com/mtj6t3s5  Our lineup of storytellers: Janet Tufts (part 2 of her wine story); Carol MirmanJannie Spain; and Denise Klein. Some of us will address a theme inspired by the date of the event: the Winter Solstice. That theme is darkness and light. If you have a story to tell on that theme but haven’t yet stepped forward, let me know. Come and hear both the stories and the themes for upcoming Storytelling sessions!

5.   Susan Jamison shared a resource for you south-enders. You can now get a ride from where you live to all the light rail stops in the southend: https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2019/04/16/take-via-to-transit-your-new-car-free-commute-in-southeast-seattle/

6.   Susan Fleischmann has a handyman recommendation: John Easley, 206 602-0088: John is skilled, has all the equipment, is very tidy and not only will do exactly what you ask, he will do a little extra if something needs it. He is not licensed or bonded. He charges $30 or $40 an hour depending on the skill level required. I have been very pleased with his work.
