  1. The next Bill Lippe house concert, the True North Duo, is on Saturday, November 4th, 7:30 pm. See attached for more information. Address provided when your reservation is confirmed.
  2. From Ellen Berg: There is an exciting expansion of Osher Lifetime Learning underway: they have just merged with an Eastside program called EDU, adding some of their fantastic instructors and students – so check out their catalog at https://www.osher.uw.edu/  I am attaching a flyer for my own course (starting next week) – but urge you to look at the bigger catalog, too, for Zoom and in-person offerings.  It is an intellectually stimulating community to be part of!
  3. Ann Lawrence announces a gathering of people whose lives have been touched by adoption at the home of Patti Gorman and Dick Knutson on Sunday, November 19th from 1-3:30 pm. Gorman/Knutson address is: 1824 E. McGraw St. Abundant parking. Ann says, Please RSVP to me (all4us2@earthlink.net) and I’ll be sure we have enough chairs, cookies, and tea/coffee, etc. During our time together we will have an opportunity to share your individual/family’s adoption story, enjoy each other’s companionship, and munch on some snacks together. We will also decide on the focus for future gatherings if we’d like to continue.
  4. Margaret Fisher’s daughter Elizabeth Armancas got a chance to meet Laphonza Butler (appointed by CA Governor Newsom to fill Dianne Feinstein’s senate post) and, in the process also met Don Cheadle and George Clooney, among other celebrities, as she covered Butler’s appointment celebration (see attached photo). Elizabeth is the well-positioned person with red glasses.
  5. Terence Davies, film director, died this past week. Some think he was Britain’s all-time best director. I highly recommend his most recent film, Benediction, a bio-pic about Sigfried Sassoon. You can stream it on Hulu or buy on Amazon Prime.
