Monday Morning Memo - 7.08.24
This is a packed issue as befits a post-holiday communique. Speaking of July 4, attached is a photo of our newest member Jean Chen interacting with Benjamin Franklin at the Benaroya Concert. And read the wonderful article by Robert Hubbell that Tom Heller shared (attached) about the stars/nebulae he saw on July 4th. See if you can discern a message for our future….

Here is a link to a marvelous radio interview with Barbara Oswald in which she not only promotes the above event but tells us many interesting things about herself. I loved it, but you can skip the first five minutes of the hosts talking to each other: https://omny.fm/shows/the-sound-of-the-puget-sound/friday-july-5-barbara-oswald-revision-arts-please

Tom Heller shared this inspirational You tube song to lift our spirits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9w22S8foSbk
My (no paywall) contribution to the discussion about how advanced age may go along with diminished performance. It’s a good antidote to some of the less well-informed info floating around: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/05/opinion/biden-age-health.html?unlocked_article_code=1.400.8guD.5hKj-aUnqDWZ&smid=url-share
Carole Okamoto had this to say about our new south-end tech volunteer Sara Boyle: Just wanted to let u know that Sara swung by my place yesterday cuz I couldn’t get my Internet reconnected. I consider myself pretty tech savvy and can usually do a lot of my own troubleshooting, but wireless network issues can be particularly challenging for me. Sara helped me diagnose the issue as well as talk to a Century Link rep. to get me back up and running again. Bottom line: She is a great diagnostician, critical thinker, and, obviously, tech savvy.
From Micki Lippe: Sushila, the young woman from Nepal that I consider my niece is looking for a place to live. A studio apartment in someone’s house would be fine. She would like to have her own kitchen. She works at the University Village. Contact Micki if you have a recommendation.
P.S. I’m going to the ocean with my daughter Pearl next weekend, Friday through Monday, so next week’s Monday Morning Memo will be published early Tuesday morning.
