Monday Morning Memo - 4.21.2025

Wider Horizons Events and Information

  1. David Darragh, a member of Wider Horizons for a number of years until recently and the partner of member Janet Tufts died today. We will schedule a time to remember him together on Zoom in the near future. I’m sad and I know those of you who’ve been close to Dave are as well.

  2. Thursday morning’s All-Member Zoom is happening, per usual, this Thursday, April 24 at 9:30 am. Sue Lerner will send out the link and questions on Wednesday.

  3. Sunday Arboretum Walk, Sunday, April 27, led by Dick Zerbe. Meet at 9 am at the Graham Visitors Center.

  4. Our 10th Anniversary celebration will take place between September 12 and September 30 on a weekday. We’ll let you know the precise date and location as soon as we can. Meanwhile, beginning in May we’re going to offer a number of smaller social opportunities to get to know other members. That way, by the time the celebration happens, you’ll know more members. Stay tuned!

Sharing

  1. Art in the Park Reception on Thursday, May 1, 4:30 pm in the Japanese Garden. See the attached flyer provided by Jean Chen.

  2. The Elizabeth Miller Botanical Garden is a well-kept secret. Tours must be arranged individually/privately and all the 2025 tours are filled. Naomi Shiff sent me the attached description of some upcoming workshops—the only way to see the garden till 2026 is to sign up for one of these.

  3. I want to recommend a 2-episode program on the Amazon Prime platform: Help. It’s about a care home worker who forms a bond with a resident who has early onset Alzheimer’s. Very engaging.
