Membership and Dues
We serve any King County resident, especially those who live in our original service area (zip codes 98101, 98102, 98104, 98112, 98122 and 98144). Our overall focus populations include:
- Those 55 and older, though we do
not exclude anyone on the basis of age
- Those of all races with a priority on engaging more African Americans
- Those of all sexual orientations and gender identities
- Those of all income levels; we try to ensure that income is not a barrier to joining
Membership dues are $600 per year for an individual and $900 for a household. Those with financial need can receive support for their membership.
We also provide services, especially by phone and email, to non-members throughout King County. Our “out-of-area” members pay maximum dues 50% of the regular $600 dues per person. They are entitled to all village activities, may vote to elect Board members, but are not guaranteed most services. They receive assistance by phone and email from our Director. In addition to our 86 current members we have about 150 prospective members who have expressed an interest but are not ready to join. We invite them to most of our events and treat those who are very interested as though they are already members.
